Volcanoes Outreach Programme
Auckland Museum is bringing our Volcanoes programme to your school!

- Free, 50 mins - 1 hour
- Term 1, Thursday and Friday, 2018
- Schools across Auckland Area

- Nature of Science, Planet Earth and Beyond, Earth Systems 1–3, Interacting Systems 1–2, Social Studies 1–3
This fully-funded programme explores Tāmaki Makaurau’s volcanic stories with two of the Museum’s passionate educators. Students will get hands-on with volcanic materials as well as explore a Māori world view, what’s beneath our feet, understanding Auckland’s volcanic field, how to be prepared, and what to do if an eruption occurs.
We can tailor these programmes for different year levels, and our educators will visit you beforehand to generate excitement and enthusiasm, as well as to ensure our educators are familiar to your students.
Pre visit and post visit material is available to support student engagement and learning.
There is no cost for your school to participate! However, to qualify for the Volcanoes programme, you must be willing to make the topic part of the term’s learning inquiry.
This programme has been created with the support of EQC and in partnership with Auckland Civil Defence and Emergency Management.
