About Elizabeth

As Head of Human History, I provide support and an oversight of the research, collection development, collection management and outreach functions of the Auckland Museum relating to the Human History collecting areas – Māori, Pacific, Archaeology, Foreign Ethnology, History and Applied Arts & Design.

Research interests and projects

My research interests are around museum practice, policy and legislation protecting movable cultural heritage, and Egyptian ethnographic material. I am also interested in current changes within the museum sector nationally and internationally, as we move away from being internal facing to increasingly connecting with communities. I work closely with colleagues in other collecting and research institutions as well as local and central government in order to stay informed about developments in museum practice, government policy as well as the more specific subject areas of the Human History team.
