The history, traditions, and daily lives of our ancestors

The culture, politics and daily lives of our ancestors are embedded and embodied in our tāonga. Under the umbrella of He Kete Mātauranga, we offer 'knowledge baskets' which are designed to share specific topics with you and your tamariki.

There are three He Kete Mātauranga baskets to choose from that cater for our youngest learners:

  • Maori Music and Dance
  • Painted Stories of the Māori
  • Treasures and Tales

and can include any combination of:

  • Storytelling
  • Role Play
  • Games
  • Music and dance
  • Tāonga handling

These programmes are funded by the Ministry of Education.
