Explore what life was like in Ancient times

Learn to carefully examine the Museum's handling collection of objects and replicas from a range of different civilisations, including the Egyptians, Romans, Vikings, Greeks, Pacific and Māori.

What is an archaeologist and how do they uncover stories of the past? How does archaeology inform us about ancient civilisations? What can we learn about ancient life, technology and beliefs by examining objects? Can we make comparisons between life today and that of ancient times?

There are six Ancient Civilisations topics to choose from.
