Ancient Egypt and early Māori Auckland War Memorial Museum - Tāmaki Paenga Hira. Students take on the role of archaeologists to focus on two different civilisations: ancient Egyptian and early Māori. In this one-hour lesson students carefully examine the Museum's handling collection of objects and replicas to learn more about what life was like in ancient times. Following the themes of culture, belief, tools and technology, students discover how societies develop over time to reflect their values and needs, and how people from ancient cultures made sense of the world around them. Students will exercise their curiosity, knowledge and problem-solving abilities with hands-on experiences, feedback and questioning.
