Explore a key feature of Auckland's natural landscape

Through hands-on experiences, questioning and critical thinking students will explore:

  • how the volcanic field has helped shape the Auckland landscape over the last 250,000 years
  • the three types of volcanic eruption that are common in New Zealand
  • what volcanic material tells us about a past eruption
  • the impact of a volcanic eruption on people living in Auckland
  • how we can prepare for a natural disaster.
