Can you keep Auckland Museum open?

This programme is set around the scenario of 'a day in the life of the Museum'.

On this day some members of staff have mysteriously disappeared and the Museum finds itself short-staffed. This raises concerns that, without some special assistance, the Museum will not be able to complete some of the essential tasks that keep the collections safe and it may have to close to the public. A call for help is made and the students participating in this education programme take up the challenge.

To successfully save the Museum students will:

  • work as a team to complete five scenarios which take them all over the Museum
  • take on the different roles of Museum staff
  • learn the skills of a particular role and its importance to the Museum
  • demonstrate the different key competencies to ensure success.

The first team that completes all tasks successfully has saved the Museum – keeping it running and the collections safe.

This programme is assisted by LEOTC and funded by the Ministry of Education.
