Members' Lounge

A key benefit for our adult Members is access to the Members' Lounge

Our Members can enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee, or tea, and relax with friends when they visit the Museum.

In the latest move to offer our Members the finest amenities, the Museum has converted the old Council Room on the ground floor into a state-of-the-art Members'’ Lounge, sumptuously fitted out with leather lounge suites, coffee tables, a computer and larger tables.

The adjoining rooms provide tea and coffee making facilities in a brand new kitchen.  There are also private toilets not available to the general public.

Internet facilities are installed in the Lounge and an ample supply of magazines and other publications are available for browsing.

The Members' Lounge is accessible by swipe card and is free of charge for Members.  Please note that the Lounge is an adults only space, children aged 13 years and under are permitted but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Lounge has seen many changes in its nearly eighty years of existence, from being the meeting place of the Auckland Institute and Museum Council; to in later years providing curatorial rooms for Social History and Registration.

This is a fine addition to Auckland Museum’'s rapidly increasing catalogue of reasons for becoming a member of New Zealand'’s finest and oldest Museum.
