The Hunt for the Spitfire Orchid

The dimly lit galleries will be alive with Wonderland-inspired characters. See the Wonderland exhibition, meet flower fairies, an intrepid orchid hunter, and characters straight out of Lewis Carroll’s books. Why is that white rabbit always so late? Dangerous Museum for Boys and Girls

Every weekend, Auckland Museum is Dangerous. Take a dangerous trail around the Museum and discover heroic tales of adventure and epic New Zealand battles. Uncover terrifying bugs, try your hand at knot tying, paper plane making and identifying ancient fossils. What better way for brave boys and girls (and mums and dads) to spend their weekends!

Wonderland Lecture Series: The Language of Flowers: Poetry, Pollination and Portrayal

Auckland Museum and the Centre for Continuing Education present three lectures in support of the exhibition Wonderland: The Mystery of the Orchid. Poet Michele Leggott traces the story of the Rangihoua rose, Brian Murray explores the importance of birds and bees and the role of humans in plant reproduction and Don Bassett discusses how Art Nouveau's 'newness' lay in the way it expressed itself through nature. More
