 He Kaupapa Maori

Explore the significance of tangata whenua and issues of personal and cultural identity.

Sharing aspects of identity - both past and present - told through stories and cultural concepts embodied in taonga from the Museum's Maori Collections.

He Kaupapa Māori offers programmes that connect through particular taonga (treasures) in our galleries to the cultural, political and economic features of traditional and contemporary Māori society. Let our Māori educators engage with your students through storytelling, role play, games, object handling, and/or ‘make and take’ activities.
Choose a programme that best meets your students’ needs, and we will confirm details with you prior to your visit.

This programme is assisted by LEOTC, funded by the Ministry of Education.
