Auckland Museum’s collections, a source of inspiration and creative expression.

Students have the opportunity to observe and draw items of cultural and community significance in the Pacific and Maori collections.

Each year several thousand secondary students base their observational drawing on objects displayed in the Museum’s galleries. The highest demand is for access to He Taonga Maori and Pacific Lifeways galleries.

Following our welcome and briefing, if required, Museum educators can also provide further commentary. Upon request, we can also make available a selection of handling collections relevant to the subjects being studied.

Folding stools are provided for student comfort.
