“My army uniform & clothes are early Victorian and as I was saying to somebody the other day I think I’ll present them to the Auck. Museum when I arrive home. My outdoor dress is of grey, bodice well-boned. We wear little capes always with uniforms faced with red & quite distinctive to other outside hospitals. I really must bring my rig home if there’s any left on me by the time I return. You never in your life saw a more old fashioned turn out. I wonder why it is the Army like to make us such guys.” Ella Cooke to “Florrie and all the other folks at Ponsonby”, 23 July 1915.
