In Memory

Exhibition now closed.

To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the World War I Armistice, the Museum presents In Memory, a special exhibition by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Peter Kirby. His three-screen film installation traces World War I from its outbreak in 1914 to the Armistice through the eyes of three New Zealanders.

Using a collection of rare photographs, film footage and letters, Kirby interweaves the wartime experiences of a young soldier on the Western Front, a nurse posted in an under-resourced army hospital, and an engineer in charge of constructing railway lines in France. The film also includes personal reflections from historians and notable New Zealanders.

Entry with admission donation.
