Drinks, canapés and dinosaurs create an event like no other
Origins Gallery at a glance:
Have your guests stumble into Jurassic Park when you invite them for cocktails amongst the dinosaurs. Origins tells the story of the beginnings of the land and the origins of its plants and animals. This is a venue for cocktail parties and pre-dinner drinks with a difference.
You and your guests can also explore the Museum after hours, with private tours of the galleries or a performance from our Māori cultural performers. Unique gifts for your guests are available from the Museum Store.
When is the venue available?
The galleries are open to the public during the day, but are available for evening events, seven nights, 364 days a year (we are closed Christmas day). You may set up from 5.15pm on the day of your event, so depending on the complexity of your set up, we recommend that your guests arrive no earlier than 6.30pm.
How much does it cost?
The Origins Gallery venue hire fee is $1,800 (excluding GST).
Professional cleaning and security host charges also apply and are excluded from the above price. Please contact us for further details.
