Families and children's activities Families Children's activities The Museum plays an important role in helping children to discover the world around them. Family events are regularly held on weekends and during school holidays and our exhibitions have plenty to interest children and parents, see the What's on listings to find out about family friendly events and exhibitions, and don't forget to visit our award winning Weird and Wonderful Discovery Centre. Facilities All galleries and service areas are accessible by wheelchair and pushchairs. Find out more about our disability access. Changing facilities are available in toilets off the Atrium and Grand Foyer on the Ground floor. A well equipped parenting room for feeding young babies is also available off the Welcome Lounge adjacent to the Grand Foyer. Parents please note: Parents or guardians shall provide supervision and care for children under the age of 14 while attending the Museum. The Museum does not accept responsibility for any children left unattended. NZ Schools and Pre-schools We recommend booking three months in advance and that you select a primary focus for your visit. Booked groups are then allocated gallery space to avoid overcrowding, receive written resources prior to the visit, and unless self-conducted are met by a Museum educator on arrival.
