Auckland Museum is proud to host Mk Haley, Walt Disney Imagineering Academic Outreach and UCLA Faculty, for an inspirational #FutureSlam talk and workshop on Tuesday 26th March.

Across two sessions open to the public, Mk Haley will draw on extensive experience at The Walt Disney Company to explore the future of 'the experience' for visitors within the cultural heritage sector and beyond.

In an hour-long talk focused on creating impactful and lasting audience experiences, Mk will share her expertise in developing new experiences, drawing on Disney projects she has designed.

This will be followed by a deep-dive workshop for those wanting to drill further into experience design with Mk. A rare opportunity for aspiring creatives and cultural heritage staff, this 1.5-hour workshop will share new tools and approaches to exhibition design and visitor experiences.

Mk has been an educator for more than 25 years teaching for a variety of University programmes, including the Disney Imagineering - UCLA partnership in Themed Entertainment Design, and recently served as both the Associate Executive Producer and a Faculty member at the Entertainment Technology Centre at Carnegie Mellon University.

Having been with The Walt Disney Company since 1994, Mk has worked in a variety of both technical and creative roles across Virtual Reality, R&D, Special FX, Show Quality Services, Disney Research Labs.

This event is presented in partnership with Mahuki - Te Papa's Innovation hub, National Services Te Paerangi, and the U.S. Embassy.

About Mk Haley

Professor Haley has been an educator for more than 25 years teaching for a variety of University programmes, including the Disney Imagineering – UCLA partnership in Themed Entertainment Design, and recently served as both the Associate Executive Producer and a Faculty member at the Entertainment Technology Centre at Carnegie Mellon University. Professor Haley currently teaches Experience and Themed Entertainment Design at Florida State University, where she also serves as the Entrepreneur in Residence for the College of Fine Arts.
 
Having been with the Walt Disney Company since 1994, Mk has worked across a range of both technical and creative roles with Walt Disney Imagineering. This includes the Virtual Reality teams, R&D, Special FX, Show Quality Services, and Disney Research Labs. She has a BFA and an MFA in computer animation. Professor Haley has served Disney Corporate initiatives related to New Technology programs and collaboration tools, as well as Disney Digital Media initiatives with their Television Groups.
 
Professor Haley is a contributing author to several Disney books including The Imagineering Workout and Walt Disney Imagineering: A Behind the Dreams Look at Making More Magic Real.
