Professor Alan Cooper will discuss the Pounamu terrane, a new Cretaceous exotic terrane within the Alpine schist of New Zealand.

The Haast Schist, composed predominantly of Otago, Alpine and Marlborough Schist components, is the most deeply buried and strongly metamorphosed part of a broadly eastward younging accretionary complex developed on the subduction margin of Gondwana.

This lecture is free and open to the general public.
