      "Group portrait of twenty six officers and men of the 7th Australian Light Horse (7ALH). Most are holding rifles and the trooper seventh from the left, back row, is holding a dog, possibly the mascot.
      The photograph is annotated on the top left corner with the caption "List of 7th LH men who were left in the trenches at Anzac to hold them to the last during the evacuation." Twenty eight men from the 7LHR, along with twenty eight men from the 5th Light Horse Regiment, were left to defend Ryrie's Post until the last stage of the evacuation of Anzac Cove in December 1915".       Embarked for overseas war service at Egypt - 20 December 1914 - aboard SS "Ayrshire" from Sydney.
      Embarked from Egypt for war service at Gallipoli, Turkey, on 15 May 1915.
      12 July 1915 medically evacuated sick (influenza) from Gallipoli to Malta.
      Returned to Gallipoli on 4 September 1915.
      One of the last men to leave Gallipoli - during the evacuation of all allied forces from Gallipoli.
      Saw further service in Sinai and Palestine.
      Returned to Gallipoli November 1918.
      Mentioned in Despatches (1918) : MID by General Sir E.H.H. Allenby GCMG,KCB "For distinguished and gallant services and devotion to duty" (Commonwealth of Australia # 173 : 7 November 1918).
      Also Mentioned in Despatches "London Gazette # 30746/69 (1918).
      Report of a Senior Officer "Regimental Quarter Master C.A Teschner : Campaigns Gallipolli-Sinai-Palestine : "A very conscientious and reliable Officer who has always shown great courage and a readiness to take risks. Is now acting Quartermaster of the Regiment and has a thorough grasp of his work".
      Returned to Australia, from Kantara Egypt, aboard HT 'Madras' 27 June 1919.
