Ian was my father-in-law. His first born, Barbara (my wife) had done a lot of research on the Audrey Roberta Bamber (Patterson) line after we had met up with a roomful of Botsford relatives of Barbara's at a house in Windsor, Ontario when in Canada visiting Barbara's Canadian relatives in 1974.
Ian's mother-in-law Madge Stevens had retired to New Zealand to be with her daughter and was staying with Ian and Audrey on their farm at Victoria Valley, Kaitaia. Ian was about to take Madge and Audrey into town and made some comment to Madge along the lines, 'come on old girl, we're going now' and then dropped dead from a heart attack onto the kitchen floor.
