  • My name is Joshua Mau and My father is George Pine Mau and Hone Pine Mau is my Grandfather . I am very honoured to have a grandfather that served in the armed forces in WW2. My father doesn't speak much off my grandfather but the things that he has told me, was that he was a hard man and that through out the war he didn't kill one soul. My father has photos of my grandfather from his POW days and it inspires me to know that he has done things to save another mans life. Lest we forget

  • Hone Pine Mau was my grandfather - he has left our whanau a legacy of strength, determination and putting others first (otherism). My dad, Ngawati Hone Mau, is his eldest child (77yrs old in a few days) of nine siblings. He has shared many wonderful stories about his father, from these stories we know our grandfather. He saved one of his allies (an Australian) during a prison escape from a German POW camp, in later years this man wrote to our family to tell us what our grandfather did for him - a great man was he :) We will never forget.
