      In the night attach on Takrouna on 19/20 April 1943 Pte. Wilson displayed courage and coolness of the highest order. During the advance which was under very heavy shell, anti-tank and mortar, fire his behaviour and conduct was an inspiration to all his comrades. Later, together with his platoon sergeant he went to the assistance of the small party of men in Takrouna village and participated in the bitter and fierce fighting culminating in the surrender of the enemy. During the fighting Pte. Wilson showed great dash and aggressiveness and outstanding gallantry. (London Gazette 22/7/1943 (I)) The National Archives. Recommendation for Award for Wilson, Patrick.
