  • Enlisted about January 1940 and put his age up when he enlisted in the army by about 3 years.

    Survivor of a troop ship Oronsay , bombed by German aircraft in Jan 1941 leaving Port Glasgow.

    Survivor from Prisoner of War ship Sebasitano Venier, known also as the Jason which was torpedoed 9th Dec 1941 on voyage fronm Benghazi to Italy. Lived in Patras, Greece for three months before going on to Italy. Escaped from Acqua Fredda Camp (PG 78/1) down through Italy Sept 1943 to Termoli.
