    Enlisted 7 June 1940. Held in Reserve Occupation for 6 months then entered camp 6 January 1941

    Admitted as Associate Chartered Accountant on 21 June 1949. A 40 year career in New Zealand Inland Revenue began in 1936 and continued until 1976. Positions held included: Chief Inspector (Head Office - in charge of national investigations into taxpayers tax returns); Regional Controller (responsible for tax offices in the South Island and Auckland area); and District Commissioner of Taxes (Nelson). Worked in the New Zealand Taxation Aid Programmes serving as Adviser Commissioner of Taxes in Samoa for three months in 1969; Adviser for the Commonwealth Secretariat to the Commissioner of Taxes in Fiji on avoidance and evasion investigations for 2 years in 1977 and 1978, and as Investigation Inspector Fiji in 1981-1982. During 1980 and 1981 he worked as Assistant Accountant to the Tourist Corporation of Fiji.

    Retired March 1983.

    Moved to Noosa Waters, Queensland, Australia in March 1997.
