    • Son of John and Annie Phelan of Enfield, Victoria, Australia; husband of Elsie May Phelan, of Te Mata. AWMM
    • TWO brothers of Patrick Pierce PHELAN were also killed in WW1. These are James McDonald PHELAN and Edmond Matthew PHELAN. These three brothers (Patrick, James, and Edmond) were born in Australia and grew up in Enfield, Victoria, but later lived in NZ. Another brother enlisted in Australia. His name was Francis Simon PHELAN. He survived the War and lived the rest of his life in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The monuments to the three PHELAN brothers who died are today in modern day France and Belgium. Their names are also remembered on the grave of their parents, Annie and John PHELAN in the Ballarat Cemetery, Victoria, Australia.
