      'In the period between September 1940 and February 1941 Driver Burns was a member of the Supply Column, NZ Army Service Corps, which served with the British Army in operations on the borders of Egypt and the subsequent advance into Libya. Although he was at times subjected to severe enemy bombing both at Headquarters camp and in forward areas this, at no time impaired his devotion to duty or his efficiency.
