  • Was reported missing on 7 August 1917 in either France or Belgium. Casualty List number 639/4.

    A memorial plaque was sent to James Thompson, 3 Sheen Street, Roslyn, Dunedin, on 21 December 1921, and the accompanying scroll was sent on 1 July 1921, to the same person.

    Periods of Service: Overseas: 407 days; New Zealand: 113 days

    The Battle of Messines took place on 7 June 1917. Over 800 soldiers of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force died in or near Messines in 1917 and 1918 and have no known grave. AWMM
