  • Kioara Uncle, i am your sister Te Hokimates eldest daughter. My son Richard and I visited your name today in the hall of memorial. We grew up always knowing about you from Nan. She loved and missed you dearly. Your memory and your life lives on. We are proud of you and we promise to always pass on your name and sacrifice for generations to come. • Ken and I trained together in Waioru. He went to infantry and I to the Artillery. I was in Vietnam when Ken's company arrived and often meant to get over to see him. I left it too late and for that I'm eternally saddened. I remember Ken as a quiet and friendly man. Someone I was proud to know. ANZAC day to me is solely about him. One day I will make that visit. To his grave.
