  • James Hewitt was the son of James Duff Hewett and Lynda Ellen Hewett, of Wellington City; husband of Joan Hewett, of Waiuku, New Zealand.

    James (known as Peter) was the son of J.D. Hewett and Mrs Hewett formerly of Auckland and later of Kilbirnie. He attended King's College (Town House) from 1928-1930. He was employed by the Public Works Department in the South Island engaged in erecting and inspecting overhead electric lines. He enjoyed the outdoor life and was a keen mountaineer and a member of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club. He died in flying operations in the final stage of his pilot training.
