  • Jim was lost on the first of two raids to the city of Konigsberg. This was a very long trip totalling over 11 hours return. The crew comprising NZ and RAF personnel had trained for 2 years but were lost without trace on only their 3rd operation with 57 Squadron. The remaining Kiwis were the pilot F/O A.G Russell, navigator F/O G.K.H Christensen and air gunner F/O P.O. Callaghan. Lest we forget
