    KILLED IN CRETE
    PRIVATE E. F. L. COOPER Private Edward Frank Lister Cooper, who is reported in to-day’s casualty list to have been killed in Crete, was a son of Mrs. A. T. Cooper, Otoko. He was educated at the Otoko School and later at th» Gisborne High School. Private Cooper was among the first to enlist in Auckland after the outbreak of war, and left New Zealand with the First Echelon. He went from Egypt to Greece with the New Zealand forces and after seeing service there was evacuated to Crete, his relatives having letters from him written on the island. He was killed on May 24 during the fiercest fighting on the island.
