You gave your life for us. Your niece is so sad that you never lived to know you had become an Uncle and I never had the chance to meet you. My Dad was your brother Bernard (Bernie) who also fought in New Caledonia and I was born while he was overseas but he and I were lucky he returned home. You are always thought of and I have some lovely photos of you but especially at Anzac Day. I know your Uncles, my Great Uncles, fought in War before you and my Dad, Harry and Bill Kelly. Both were wounded and Great Uncle Harry lost a leg. As I write this I am wearing a small Memorial White Cross with a lovely poppy and green leaf on it. Thank you for such a supreme sacrifice so unfair on such a young man. Remembered by me always.
