    Sergeant-Major Stanley Edward Pearson, whose death in action is reported, is the second son of Mrs. M Pearson 778 Childers road, and the late Mr. Richard Pearson. He was born in Gisborne 26 years ago, and was educated at the Makaraka School and later at the Gisborne High School, after which he joined the Railways Department’s staff at Port Ahuriri. He left New Zealand with the First Echelon, Second NZEF and after two years’ service in the Middle East, including experience of the campaigns of Greece and Crete was returned to New Zealand as an' instructor. He subsequently rejoined the New Zealand Division in Italy. Besides his mother, he leaves one brother, Mr. Allan Pearson, and two sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Lowe and Miss Noeline Pearson, all of Gisborne Public - Lorraine Mona - Researcher - 29 July 2023 - ROLL OF HONOUR
