    His Bible was found by British soldier Herbert Hodgson on 12 April 1918. His family returned the Bible to New Zealand and gifted it to the National Army Museum in Waiouru in a ceremony on 23 March 2011 AWMM

Granny Corkin from the Tihake end of the Bay, Mrs Marion McKenzie, Tuti Fisher and Granny Cook .Mrs Rueben Cook was a Welsh woman and remembered by many. She was an ardent jug collector and while cake baking has nothing to do with jugs, she did make marvelous gingerbread's .Although there were lots short cuts to home after school across the rushes and creeks, school children often choose to walk the long way around so as to pass Granny Cooks place…..for who knew, it could be well worthwhile for a slab of hot gingerbread! At basket evenings, where goodies therein were put up for auction, Granny Cook made no secret of which basket was hers…there was usually a leek tied to the handle! She wore a
