  • Private Robertson was the second son of Archibald Douglas Robertson and of Jean Christina Robertson (nee Hawthorn), of Temuka, Canterbury, New Zealand

    Brother of Keir, Bid (Archibald 15327), Marie, Valentine, Brian, Jessie, Ian, Erin

    Spent his early life on West Coast of South island.

    His niece writes: "He was a talented artist who drew pictures of Goering, Hess, Goebels and Hitler on the tents in the desert - possibly cartoons or caricatures.

    He and his younger brother Bid (Archibald 15327) enlisted within a month of each other, sailed together for Egypt and fought side by side for 16 months until the desert campaign for Ruweisat Ridge, Egypt, where Bid was captured as a POW and later died at Bari.

    Originally listed as missing, the family had to endure 11 months of anguish before confirmation of his death.
