  • Obituary
"Private Alexander Blain (Main Body), who died in the Hospital, after being an inmate and out-patient for two years, had resided in New Brighton for several months prior to his death. By his upright, honest character and bright, cheery outlook, despite his wounds, he had won the highest esteem of all with whom he came in contact. The deepest sympathy is felt with his relatives in their great loss. At the close of the service in the Methodist Church on Sunday evening Iast special reference was made by the Rev W. Walker to the departure from New Brighton of Privates J. Osborn and J. Malaquin. Mention was made of the high esteem in which they were held by all who know them. In handing pocket Testaments to them the Rev Walker wished them God-speed and a safe return."
