  • Uncle Godfrey, I can never remember your name being mentioned in our household, probably due to the 'stiff upper lip' of our English heritage. Despite that, I have known of you for many years and that you served in World War 1. Dad and Uncle Fred also served on the Western Front, but they returned safely. You died of illness - probably the terrible flu - and you are buried in Hamilton. Grandad Lewis was so proud that his three sons serving their country and wrote a letter to the Nelson Evening Mail about you all. I am so glad I have found your record.
