      • Born in Scotland, he lived at 1 Keose, Isle of Lewic, Western Isles, Scotland.

        He had also served in the South African war, probably with the Seaforth Highlanders and was Mentioned in Despatches for his gallant conduct by Sir George White and General Kitchener.

        Left the army and went to Canada, where he was ordained in 1908. He settled in New Zealand in 1912

        He organised hospital work and attended to the wounded in the Gallipoli campaign.

        In 1917 he was promoted to Assistant Chaplain-General with the rank of Major. AWMM
