  • Your real name is Tangataiti Paki and it shows in your notes that your father is Koperu Paki. Because you were too young to enter into the forces you changed your name from Tangataiti Paki to John Koperu and upgraded yourself a few years to gain access. Obviously taking your father's first name and making it your last and that is how we are now known as the Koperu whanau. Your daughter my Nana is Rahiripounamu Koperu who married koro Te Moananui Kingi. You (John Koperu/Tangataiti Paki) got yourself into the First Maori Battalion and you were wounded being sent home which is fortunate for us as there may have never been any us if you weren't sent back. Thank you. I could never do what you done. Humble blessings!
