  • This is my Great Grandfather Rai Solomon aka Rehopoama Horomona his daughter Lizzy is my Nanna, her mother Maata (Martha) is the daughter of William Parkes aka Wiremu Paaka and Waiaria Paaka who left the Bay of Islands in the 1880s and sailed to Thursday Island in the Torrestrait and ran a very lucrative Pearl Diving enterprise as well as a Building company. They returned home some years later and gifted land to established a Native school in the area. Rai Solomon was Wiremu and Waiaria’s son in law
