  • Married in 1911 to Elizabeth Amy Cartwright of Ponsonby, James was with the Police force in Newton, Auckland.

    He was promoted on the field and attended officer training at Cambridge University.

    In 1919 he was successful in a ballot for 83 acres Waiari Soldiers Settlement, 3 kilometres up Te Matai Road (Te Puke Times), he was still living there until his death in 1934.

    Foundation member of the Te Puke RSA and elected Vice President AWMM
