    Wounded in action (second occasion), 9 January 1917; admitted to 24th Stationary Hospital, Kantara, 12 January 1917 (gun shot wound, left shoulder: slight); reported dangerously ill, 18 January 1917; listed as out of danger, 13 February 1917.
    Mentioned in Despatches.
    Invalided to New Zealand from Suez on board HMT 'Willochra', 7 March 1917; discharged, 9 August 1917.
    Total war service: 2 years 27 days (of which 1 year 171 days was abroad)

    Also served in World War II as 48641 Colonel, New Zealand Artillery Corps.
