    Wounded in action, 8 May 1915 (bullet wound, abdomen), and admitted to HS 'Braemar Castle'; disembarked Malta, 18 May 1915, and admitted to St George's Hospital; transferred to Convalescent Camp, 13 June 1915.
    Embarked for Egypt, 12 July 1915; attached to strength of Base Depot, Mustapha, 16 July 1915.
    Embarked Alexandria for Gallipoli, 21 July 1915; rejoined Bn, Anzac Cove, 28 July 1915.
    Reported missing, 8 August 1915.
    Board of Enquiry, held at Moascar Camp, Ismailia, 16 January 1916, concluded 'Now believed to be dead'.

    Cable advice has been received by Mr E. Ashworth, of the City Cleaning Coy that his. son, Private R. Ashworth, of the 3rd reinforcements, previously reported missing is now reported by the Court of Inqujry as Believed to be dead. Cables bf sympathy have been received from his Majesty the King, Mr J. Allen (Minister of Defence), Sir J G Ward, and Captain Gavin Hamilton, Private Secretary to the Governor. Public - Lorraine Mona - Researcher - 26 April 2023 - ROLL OF HONOR.
