  • Thank you to those who created this historical record. I never met my grandfather but know that mum had aroha for him. I have been working on our whanau tree for many years and it was awesome to find this slice of history. He was a beautiful young man who fought for his country at a time when being Māori wasn't as acceptable as it is now. Eternally grateful. (Ko Remana Paenga tōku tipuna, Ko Raharuhi tōku māmā, Ko Ruku I'Anson ahau).

  • Remana Paenga's youngest child was Raharuhi Iwa Paenga (female) who married Wiremu Poaneki Te Momo my parents. Ko tēnei te tangi ki ā koe e te pāpā e Remana moe mai raa i te moenga te urunga tee whakaarahia. Moe mai i roto i te aroha me te rangimaarie. Tino te arohanui ki a koe e Pa noo too whānau, mokopuna hoki.
