  • He also served in the National reserve in WW2 as a private from 29 July 1940 to 4 August 1942 when he was sent to Masterton to repair chimneys demolished in the big earthquake.

    Until about 1954 he worked in his own business W.B. Quennell & Sons, then as his health began to deteriorate he became semi-retired and worked as a clerk for Cadbury Fry Hudson until several months before his death AWMM
