    • Stanley Guest was the son of William and Margaret Guest, of Clyde St., Balclutha, Otago, New Zealand. AWMM
    • William and Margaret established the well known general store Guest & Sons in Balclutha, South Otago. The Guest family was well respected in the South Otago community. Four of Stanley's brothers went on to work in (and then own) the expanding store - as did some of their sons. Many of the Guests did not have sons (or daughters) to pass the business on to and so with competing pressures from chain businesses the store closed in the 1960s.
One of Stanley's nephews, Frank, went on to to rejuvenate the law faculty at Otago University with a number of his sons following careers in law.
My grandfather John was Stanley's brother. John had two sons, Bill (lieutenant) and Gordon (Captain), who both served in the Second World and survived - returning to work in Balclutha until their retirement. Public - Peter - Other relative - 5 September 2016 - Family Oral history
