  • Posted to New Zealand Maori Pioneer Battalion on 27 September 1916, had embarked on board Tahiti at Wellington for Devonport, England on 26 June 1916, disembarking on 22 August 1916
    Left Sling Camp for France on 5 September 1916
    Marched out to division from Etaples on 6 September 1916, joined and posted to Pioneer Battalion in the field on 27 September 1916
    Stoppage for lost of Cadges on 10 December 1916, on duty with unit on 3 August 1917
    Went on leave from 22 August 1917 till 5 September 1917
    Admitted to hospital with sickness on 10 October 1917, transferred to Number one New Zealand Field Ambulance on 11 October 1917, the transferred to Causalty Clearing Station on same day, next day was transferred to Convalescent Depot then on 13 October 1917 was transferred to Number 51 General Hospital at Boulogne
    Then on same day admitted to hospital at Etaples
    Discharged to base on 9 November 1917, marched out to division on 3 January 1918, re-joining battalion the next day
    Attached as GOC’s guard on 24 June 1918, returning to unit on 5 August 1918
    Went on leave from 13 September 1918 till 3 October 1918
    Embarked for New Zealand on board SS Westmoreland at Liverpool on 28 February 1919
    Lost three day’s pay for overstaying leave on 17 June 1916 at Narrow Neck, stoppage of pay for two days for losing equipment while at Rouen on 17 December 1916, was absent from fight training parade at Etaples on 14 December 1917 ended up with 7 days CB award on 15 December 1917
    Spent 116 days in New Zealand, 2 years and 285 days abroad
