He was Garfield David Black. Garfield Black had a letter from his uncle written from Egypt before going to Gallipoli. It was a beautifully written and most expressive letter written to Garfield Jessop's sister. We knew Garfield Black and his wife Nancy well. They lived all their lives in North West Bay in Pelorus Sound. On Garfield Black's 80th birthday (Apr 25th 1998) we invited him and available members of his family to a ceremony to name our little bay in North West Bay "Garfields Bay" after both Garfields. We are holding a commemoration for both men on the Anzac Centennial in the Bay.
