discuss document export feedback print share Report a story Record Ian Jamieson Bell Contributor Ian Brett Relationship Child Date Posted 16 August 2015 Note Ian Jamieson Bell was my mother's younger brother, he enlisted with First Echelon 2NZEF in 1940 as a Driver with the NZASC attached to 4th Field Ambulance. He was apparently wounded in Egypt and invalided home in 1941 - dying of wounds on Nov 29, 1941, aged 30. He is buried in the Soldiers Section of Waikumete Cemetery, Auckland and commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. I have some photographs of him taken before he embarked and in Egypt and also his medals and Memorial Cross, which were in my Grandmothers' possession. I am also named after him.
