Title for image: Addolorata cemetery, Malta gravestone for J P Roughan
Describe the image: Sgt John Philip Roughan 8/275 was wounded on Gallipoli on 7 August 1915, the same day as my father Patrick O'Connor 8/261, and they were both Otago men.
Where did your information come from?: Research on my father in the Gallipoli campaign. The co-incidence is they were in the right assault group for the Chunuk Bair attack up the Chailak Dere. Both wounded, but his was in the leg, and probably needed a stretcher bearer. By the time he was brought down, the special Embarkation Pier which was built for the expected casualties, had been abandoned due to Turkish shelling, and he had further to go to a hospital ship, and fewer options for treatment.
