Gallery visitors on average look at a work of art for just 15 seconds. Slow Art Day invites you to take the time to focus on the art of seeing.
Slow Art Day, held at galleries and museums around the world, has a simple mission: to help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at, and loving, art and objects.
Take part in Slow Art Day at the Museum by getting up close to a selection of items from our collection. You'll be captivated by colour and tantalised by texture and form. Meet with a curator, grab a cup of tea or coffee and share what you have discovered by looking slowly. Of course, you’re free to stray from the library and choose your own objects to ponder too.
